As they are manufactured with different materials, the cleaning of floors will depend on their type and composition. In other words, for the floors to last longer, it is necessary to do the proper cleaning for each one.

Before starting to clean the floor, run a broom with soft bristles and collect any dust and dirt accumulated on the floor. Only after that can your floor receive a treatment to remove stains and restore shine.

How to Clean Marble
Floors Marble floors are beautiful and elegant, but they demand extra attention.

This material is very porous and has a high absorption capacity. Therefore, do not use highly concentrated, corrosive or greasy products. To clean the marble floor, remove all dust and dirt with the help of a broom or vacuum. Dissolve a small amount of powdered CIF Multipurpose in a container with 5 liters of water. Dip a clean, soft cloth into this solution and scrub the floor. Then wipe with a clean cloth dampened with water to remove any residue from the solution and dry thoroughly.

Always read the label instructions for each product to make sure it is suitable for the floor you want to clean.

Cleaning Slate Flooring Slate
flooring is less porous than marble, but it can also be easily damaged and does not support highly concentrated and abrasive products. Cleaning with water and a good neutral detergent is sufficient.

Sweep or vacuum the entire slate floor to remove dust, then wipe with a soft, damp cloth.

Prepare a solution with 3 liters of warm water with two tablespoons of mild detergent. You can also replace the detergent with a bit of multipurpose, such as CIF Multipurpose +Cleaning. Moisten a cloth with the solution and wring it well and wipe it on the floor. Then dry everything with a soft, dry cloth.

If you want to give the floor an extra shine, add three tablespoons of white vinegar to the mixture. You can also use a scented cleanser like CIF Perfumes for a pleasant, long-lasting fragrance. Dilute three tablespoons in a bucket with 2.5 liters of water, dampen a cloth and wipe the floor. After ironing the cloth it is not necessary to rinse.

How to clean tile floors

Ceramic floors should not be washed with greasy or abrasive products as they can be damaged. Make sure the entire floor is free of dust, or clean it first with a soft broom.

Prepare a warm water solution with a little CIF Multipurpose powder in a bucket or use a scented cleanser like CIF Perfumes. Wipe the solution with a clean cloth all over the floor. Finally, dry the floor with a soft cloth.

How to clean porcelain

Cleaning the porcelain floor frequently will prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt and so you won’t need to use stronger cleaning products. Clean all the dirt from the floor of the room with the broom; mix 3 scoops of CIF Multipurpose powder in a bucket with 2.5 liters of water; the ideal is to put the water at room temperature, but if the coating is a little greasy, use lukewarm water; soak a clean cloth in the solution and wipe the porcelain carefully. If after cleaning with the cloth the coating is still dirty, repeat the operation; dry the floor with a soft, dry cloth.

Maintenance and maintenance of floors

floors and coverings in your apartment

All floors and coverings in a house require periodic maintenance.

This is because the materials can wear out naturally with daily use, so some repairs and adjustments must be carried out, so that the conservation of the coatings is always up to date.

On wooden floors, it is common to carry out the scraping of blocks  to remove the excess of products applied to preserve the surface, in addition to being a recommended service to renew the appearance of the floor.

For porcelain tiles, a revitalization kit can be applied, which returns the shiny aspect to the surface.

Concrete floors can be recovered with different processes, which fill possible cracks and porosities resulting from use, returning a uniform appearance to the area.

In outdoor environments that have a grass mat, it  may need to be replaced, so that the location’s appearance becomes more natural. Thus, the area once again has a greener and more beautiful view.

On floors where there is the application of grout to join the pieces, it may be necessary to reinforce the product, touching it up where there are damaged spots, restoring a perfect surface.

Thus, it is possible to keep the floor or covering intact, preventing infiltration or also that the pieces come loose.

It’s a good idea to avoid silicone or wax-based products as they create a layer on the floor that is difficult to remove. Do not use abrasive products to remove dirt as they can scratch your floor. Try sweeping and cleaning the floor at least once a week with a soft broom to remove dust and renew the shine. By following these tips, your floor will stay clean, cared for, and looking new for longer.
